A Beautiful Shinto era Wakizashi here being offered on Ebay for the first time anywhere. Piece is fresh out of a New York estate and was brought back by a Naval officer who served in WW2. The sword is signed Kami Kunimasa and there were two generations. Sagami no Kami Kunimasa the first was in Kanbun (1661), the second Jokyo (1684). They were of the Tamba no Kami Yoshimichi mon (Mishina School). This sword was forged by one of them, but I'm not sure which one. The blade has a beautiful hamon that starts as suguha then turns gunome and then back to suguha....looks phenomenal! The hada is an extremely tight masame with some itame in places. There is ko-nie present along the entire habuchi that looks very nice and is well controlled. Blade has a nice bo-hi that carries all the way back into upper section of nakago. The sword
is free of nicks, kizu, fukure, bends or any other flaws. There is a little burr at tip of kissaki, but nothing serious at all. There are some stains here and there and light surface scratches, but nothing serious. The measurements are as follows, Nagasa 18+1/8", Nakago 5+1/2", width at Machi 1+1/8", width at Yokote 7/8". This is a nice beefy and healthy blade that looks great the way it sits or would rock in full polish. Koshirae is all matching and really has a great look with floral and bird designs. Tsuba is iron and unsigned, menuki, fuchi & kashira are shakudo. The tsuka has perfect dark green colored wrap over black stained same that just looks outstanding. The saya has a little damage where kozuka goes and on opposite side, but all in all it's very nice. This is a great opportunity to own a very attractive and high quality early Shinto Wakizashi. As always I am listing this with NO RESERVE, so good luck!
